Work Life etc

 Happy Spring everyone,

Last year - in fact right into this year's winter, was busy with Cycletherapy type stuff; trail building down in Perthshire and surveying / sign post installing up here in the cairngorm National Park.

Rik Alsop, fab trail builder, digger driver and still fast on a bike.

Signage contract for cairngorm National Park, said I'd do it as carbon neutral as possible, so loaded up the e-cargo bike!

Good old trail maintenance for the forestry, after 20 years of trail building, still can't beat clearing away puddles.

Take your kid to work day! Jumps testing on new trail at Glenalmond College.

But now photography seems like it's going to be front and centre for a while. I've had numerous jobs and enquiries about photographing 'proposal' shoots! Talk about a pressure shot! You've got to be in the right place at the right time to get 'that' shot, no second chances, no excuses! So far so good, but it's a combination of sniper, paparazzi and army level planning, recce and rehearsals! Not showing those shots here as I think those moments are quite personal for clients. What with them, the odd quirky Highland wedding and some up and coming events, seems like the camera business will be pulling its weight for the time being. So if you need a photographer in the Cairngorms National Park area - info@paulmassonphotography.co.uk! 😉

Winter wedding on the shores of Loch an Eilein.

Finally also decided that sore shoulders, bad backs, general old man's aches and 'noises' on standing up weren't going to just magically go away at my age. Apparently lifting heavy things is good for your health - try telling that to someone who's been building mountain bike trails for the passed 20 years!
So been getting serious about going to the gym. Initially really didn't like it, I'm a skinny cyclist, not exactly a gym body, but now after months of perseverence I'm starting to get it! I sort of know what I'm doing now, just the basics; dead lifts, squats, overhead press, pull ups, core, etc, etc.
Upping the miles on the bikes as well with an eye to trying something longer in the Alps later in the summer.
So now it's admin', sniffing out work, booking shoots, replying to emails, pricing jobs and all the 101 things that being self employed is all about.
Catch you later.
